Welcome to Braxton’s Animal Works, where we’ve proudly served the Wayne, PA community and the Main Line since 1938. As a family-owned business spanning three generations, we’ve built a tradition of trust and expertise in pet care, making us your go-to neighbor for all things pet-related.
At Braxton’s, we believe that pet ownership is one of life's greatest joys. Our mission is to educate and empower our community with the knowledge and tools to provide the best care for their furry family members. We offer a carefully curated selection of high-quality pet products, ensuring that every item on our shelves meets the highest standards of health and happiness for your pets.
Over the years, we’ve grown and evolved, always staying true to our core values of quality, education, and community. Today, under the management of Tiff Braxton, we continue to innovate and adapt, integrating modern technology and automation to improve our operations while maintaining the personal touch that our customers love.
1938: Edward O. Braxton purchases Cugley’s Kennels, renaming it Braxton’s Kennels. Edward and Gertrude Braxton move from Yeadon, Delaware County, to Strafford, PA. The Braxton family resides on the second floor above the shop at 614 Lancaster Ave.
1941: Bill Braxton, the youngest of the three Braxton siblings, leaves Tredyffrin-Easttown Combined School (now Conestoga High School) in the tenth grade to support the family business while Edward recovers from a stroke. Bill discovers his passion for dog grooming.
1958: A standalone retail and boarding/grooming facility is built behind the Braxton home/shop, marking the beginning of Braxton’s expansion.
1965: Bill Braxton assumes full control of the retail, grooming, and boarding businesses, continuing the family legacy.
1976: Additional space is added to the 1958 retail shop, doubling its size to better serve our growing customer base.
1960s - 1990s: Bill and Theresa Braxton’s eight children contribute to the family business, instilling strong values and a commitment to excellence.
1996: The next generation takes the helm as Dave, Jennifer, and John Braxton assume ownership, ensuring the family tradition continues.
December 1999: The new barn building opens, fulfilling Bill’s long-held dream of expanding the business in a significant way.
